David D. Stahl
1954-2019
David Stahl, beloved husband of Susan W. Stahl, passed away suddenly on January 26, 2019 at the age of 65 years, 12 days.
Left behind are his three beloved children, Rick, Torie (Myles), and Steph (Edrin); along with his much cherished granddaughters Ellen, Sophie, and soon to be born, third granddaughter.
He was pre-deceased by his mother and father, David and Susan Stahl, and his parents-in-law, Bertha Arnold and Wayne Arnold.
David also leaves behind his siblings, Levi, Lydia (Henry), Lawrence (Rachel), Eddie (Judy), Martin (Sarah), Michael (Rebecca), Leonard, and Sammy. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and extended family on his wife’s side as well as a great many wonderful friends.
David and Susan were very lucky to have had 38 years together, raising their three children on eighty acres of land.
David’s first jobs were as a farm labourer, then in construction as the “new” part of highway 2 was being constructed west of Athabasca. David became an owner-operator of a gravel truck with which he travelled the length and breadth of Alberta paving many highways. David and Susan met while they were both involved in the building of highway 40 through Kananaskis Country.
He was also a Cat operator, having logged many hours doing pipeline right-of-ways and various other jobs. He was very proud of having done all the cat work for the condos by the hospital and WHPS in Athabasca.
David was happiest around his children and grandchildren, ice-fishing, looking after our land, and most of all, planting, tending, and harvesting his gardens—especially his potatoes and carrots. He was a simple, hardworking man for which friends, family and simple pleasures were most important.
As per his wishes, no formal service will be held.
He will be sorely missed.
