It is with great sadness that the family of Allan (Rosey) Strong announce his passing on July 9, 2024, nine days short of his 65th birthday.
Rosey was born and spent his life in the Athabasca and Colinton area. The 2nd youngest child of Gordon and Betty Strong, Rosey grew up tough and talented with 6 older brothers and sisters. There wasn’t a horse he couldn’t ride, a truck he couldn’t fix or a piece of equipment he couldn’t operate.
In 1997, Rosey married Anita Ells and they welcomed son Tristan in 1998. Together, they operated Rosey Trucking & Excavating Ltd. A local company that offered lowbeds, hiboys, winch tractors, water trucks and other heavy equipment.
Rosey is survived by his loving wife, partner, friend and care taker Anita. Son Tristan (Laurie), daughter Tiffany (Randy) and grandchildren Shaye, Keegan, Nash and Kane. He is also survived by brothers David (Diana), Jim and Todd (Lucil), sisters Sharon (Bob) Berger and Jeanette (John) Ford and sister-in-law Lucille. In addition to numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Rosey was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Betty and Gordon, brother Neil, sister Judy and infant siblings Larry and Lori.
Thank you to Dr. Klopper, for her care and understanding throughout Rosey’s final months. Also, to the Nurses and staff at the Athabasca Hospital and to the EMS staff who attended on occasion. Special thank you to Nurse Christine Strong for your extra support and care.
Please join us for a celebration of Rosey’s life, which will be held at the Colinton Community Hall on July 16, 2024 at 11:00 am. Rosey will then be laid to rest at the Meanook Cemetery as he wanted to be with his Mom and Dad. A luncheon will be held back at the Colinton Community Hall thereafter.
