It is with sadness that we say goodbye to our dear mother, Anne Hewko. Anne passed away peacefully at the age of 99 years, at the Athabasca Extendicare on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, where she had resided for several years.
She was born in the Leshoore District area on April 7, 1923, to Eva and Harry Rozak. Anne grew up in the Waskatenau area before marrying Andrew Hewko and living much of her life in the Sarrail district and in the town of Boyle.
Anne is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Joyce (Ray) Kolach and Sylvia Darlene Hewko (Ken Hodge); her daughter-in-law Sylvia Pauline Hewko (Don Remeika); her brother Peter (Jenny); sister-in-laws, Olga (Mike) and Mary (John); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband Andrew; son Edward (Eddie); five brothers: Harry, Jim, John, Mike, and William; and three sisters: Emily, Mary, and Olga.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10:30am at Grassland Community Hall with Father Roman Shiyan officiating. Burial will take place at Sarrail Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to Grassland Hall for a hot lunch and refreshments following burial.
In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to make a memorial donation in Anne's name can do so to Sarrail Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church.
