Ayanna Rosa Demmons

June 17, 1976 ~ April 12, 2020 (age 43)

Ayanna Rosa Demmons

June 17th, 1976 – April 12th, 2020

Ayanna was born Ean Jason Kard on June 17th, 1975, in Edmonton, and passed away on April 12th, 2020, at the age of 43 years.

Ayanna struggled all her short life with her gender identity and most of her adult life with mental health problems.

Our society does not welcome those who are different and do not fit into their norms.

She was lonely and alone most of her adult life and struggled to be accepted, meet her soul mate, and be loved. That never happened so she created another reality that accepted her as she was: a strong, courageous, and beautiful woman.

She was loved and accepted by her mom (Debra) and dad (Roy); brother Tony and his wife Crystal; her nieces Kestyn, Katrina, Kariss, and Kloee; her nephew Alex-Zander; and her great-nephew Gunnar.

She has left a hole in all our hearts that is only comforted knowing that her struggles and pain are now over.

She is at peace.

Miss Me – But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me;
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low;
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me - but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know;
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me - but let me go.

After much consideration of the current international health crisis, the Demmons family is choosing to postpone the celebration of Ayanna's life until a later date. We appreciate there are many people who knew Ayanna and want to join in the celebration, however ensuring the gathering is safe and inclusive for all who wish to attend is the family priority. At this time we encourage everyone to prioritize their own health and safety. We will confirm the date of our celebration in forthcoming announcements and appreciate your understanding and support.
