Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Darren Leon Richards. Darren unexpectedly passed away in his sleep on April 12, 2023.
Darren was born April 27, 1973 in Thompson Manitoba and he lived most of his life in Alberta, where he married his wife Rachel and started a beautiful family.
Darren is survived by his loving and devoted wife: Rachel; their three children: Tanner, Tia, and Daylin; Mother: Gladys Richards and Father: Eric Richards; his brother: Lawrence Richards. Darren recently was blessed with two beautiful grandchildren: Arya and Jasper. (Children of Daylin) Darren was also ecstatic about his third grandchild to be arriving in June. (Child of Tia)
Darren was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved to live his life to the fullest and loved all aspects of nature.
The wake will be held at The South Athabasca Hall, Friday, April 28th at 7 PM followed by a funeral service Saturday, April 29th at the Athabasca Multiplex at 1 PM with a public viewing at 12 PM (Noon)
Donations in memory of Darren can be made to the Athabasca Native Friendship Centre or to the Athabasca Minor League Hockey Association. Flowers can be sent to the Athabasca Community Chapel for the Richards family.
Darren is now gone from our sight but he will forever live in our hearts and in our memories .
