It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Eileen Chamberlain announce her passing at the Athabasca Long Term Care on March 16th, 2022 at the age of 91 years.
Eileen was born and raised in the Calder District in Edmonton, Alberta. She met Lloyd Chamberlain while he was attending the U of A and they were married in 1953. They moved to Athabasca where Lloyd started up his Law practice. Eileen worked for Lloyd in that office until his untimely death in 1990.
Community involvement and service was very important to Eileen. She was dedicated to the causes she believed in and gave generously of her time. She was a lifetime member of the Athabasca Chamber of Commerce, she delivered Meals on Wheels, volunteered at the Good Samaritan Mission, was on the AU Research Ethics Board, Community Justice Committee, Athabasca Toast Masters, WHPS Reading Program, and was an active member in her Church.
Eileen loved visiting and playing cards with her friends and family. Spending summers at the cottage at Baptiste Lake was very special to Eileen. She had a huge heart and lived life to the fullest. Eileen enjoyed travelling, reading, watching sports on TV, and was her grandchildren’s #1 sports fan.
Eileen lived such an appreciative life and was so thankful for everything she had. She felt blessed and was able to appreciate the small things in life, like watching birds and the deer that would come by to eat at the bird feeders she put out.
A couple common sayings spoken often by Eileen were, “I am too blessed to be stressed.” and “Work hard, earn your pay.”
Eileen will be cherished forever by her children: Chris (Wendy), Lynn, Kim (Brian); 5 grandchildren: Carver (Ashlin), Tanner (Chantelle), Laura (Orin), Kelly (Paul), Jonathan (Kendra); 8 great-grandchildren: Landyn, Emma, Jackson, Austin, Kate, Aleida, Edison and Ethan; her brother Donald, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, her brother Raymond, and her great-grandson Jacob.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at the Athabasca Missionary Church with Pastor Al Platt officiating.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Athabasca Healthcare Auxiliary Association, the Athabasca Good Samaritan Ministries Association, or to a Charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at LTC for their kindness, compassion, and excellent care of their mom.
