Elaine Horne

On May 25, 2022, Elaine Marion Horne, 89, of Drayton Valley Alberta passed away peacefully, with family by her side. 

Elaine is survived by her children Terry (Tina), Calgary; Jari-Ann Timmons (Ness), New Waterford, Cape Breton; Cathy Dusterhoft (Marvin), High Prairie; Robert (Angela), and Christine (Harvey), Drayton Valley; Brad (Sera), Edson; son-in-law Howard Vickers (Renée), Oliver, BC; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous relatives. Elaine was predeceased by her parents Noel and Emma Kelley, siblings Dora, Julian, Bert and Ronald; husband Allan, daughter Barbara Vickers, and grandson Connor Timmons.

Elaine was born and raised in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.  She attended the University of Alberta and had started her teaching career when she met Allan Horne at a dance in Hay Lakes … it was love at first sight.  They married in 1957 and moved west to Lodgepole for a couple years before making a permanent move to Drayton Valley.

Elaine was a kind and gentle matriarch. She and Allan modeled and nurtured an enduring love and connection among all family members. She quietly led by example, and lived to serve family, faith and community. Elaine appreciated the gift of each day, and treated others with kindness and generosity. How blessed we have been by the steady, loving presence of this  gentle, humble woman of faith.

A Prayer Service will be held at St. Anthony Church, Drayton Valley on Wednesday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass celebrating Elaine’s life will be held at St. Anthony Church, Drayton Valley, on Thursday, June 2 at 1:30 p.m. followed by interment at Riverview Cemetery.
