Florence Fentiman

On July 8th 2026, another angel got her wings when Florence Fentiman left this life on Earth to be with those gone before her.

Florence was predeceased by her husband Malcolm, son Brett, parents Abe and Rose Ellefson, sister Rena Roche, and brother Gilbert Ellefson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Brenda, son Mark, and grandchildren Zachary, Amanda, and Maleah.

Florence was born in Radway, Alberta on November 13th, 1933. When she was four years old, her family moved by horse and wagon to the Bondiss area before settling on the south shore of Skeleton Lake where they homesteaded.

In 1951, she met Malcolm when he was working on the railroad a short distance from their home. They were married on March 7th, 1953, then lived in Edmonton while he did dragline work until the opportunity to purchase the farm in 1960 came up. They raised three children there: Brett, Brenda, and Mark.

Florence was a person of faith and was active in her church. She loved singing and playing her guitar as well as acting at Ladies’ Nights Out. Painting, cross-stitch, and needlepoint were also some of her interests. She enjoyed gardening and keeping her yard looking beautiful throughout the years. Her rhubarb pie and jumbo raisin cookies were the best!

She was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Wild Rose Villa and Athabasca Extendicare, as well as Dr. Honiball and Dr. Craig for their care of her these last three years.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to STARS Air Ambulance or a charity of one’s choice could be made in her honour.

A celebration of Florence’s life will take place at the Gateway Community Church in Boyle, Alberta on Friday, July 17th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow. Friends and family are welcome to attend and stay for a lunch afterward to visit and share stories and memories of Florence with the family and each other.
