Glen Alvin Jewell

Glen Alvin Jewell passed away on June 28, 2024, at the age of 75 following a heroic battle with cancer for several years.  Glen and his twin brother Garry were born in Athabasca on January 15, 1949, the eldest of 6 children born to Joe and Judy Jewell, he loved Athabasca and made it his home all his life.  Glen started working as a young man on the family farm & logging business, this was just the start of a long successful working career in many different industries.

In October 1989, Glen married Wendy, his soulmate and life partner.  Family meant everything to Glen, he was full of love for his wife, his children, and grandchildren, and those fortunate to be his close family and friends.  All who knew Glen, knew him for his generosity, positivity & his love for practical jokes & pranks.  Supporting the community was important to Glen.  He gave generously of his time and skill to many projects that enhanced the Athabasca community which he was so proud of.

Glen is predeceased by his parents, Joe and Judy Jewell; his twin brother Garry, brother-in-law Frank Bury and stepdaughter Sherri Gaylord.  Left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Wendy; sons Brent and Jayson Jewell and stepdaughter Lori Gaylord; brother Lloyd (Lyne) Jewell, sisters Lorna Bury, Suzanne (Edwin) Bury, Brooke (Allan) Salz and sister-in-law Louella Jewell; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Walker, with his medical team at the Cross Cancer Institute and Dr. Shaub who helped Glen to navigate through his final stage of his disease, and the palliative care professionals.
