It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonard Willcott of Athabasca on April 22, 2026, at the age of 72.
Leonard grew up in the small hamlet of La Tabatière, Quebec, where he developed a deep connection to the sea. As a young adult, he became a fisherman, known for his skill and confidence on the water. Though he was best known as a fisherman, he was truly a jack of all trades.
In 1989, Leonard moved to Athabasca, Alberta, where he built a life rooted in hard work and community. He worked as both a carpenter and mechanic, earning a reputation for his dedication, resourcefulness, and strong work ethic.
Leonard was a kind, vibrant man who lived life fully. He had a great sense of humour, a generous spirit, and a way of making everyone feel welcome. He was well liked by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his laughter will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Carmen, his loving children, and many cherished grandchildren, along with many family members and friends who loved him dearly and will carry his memory forward.
A service for Leonard will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 1:00 PM in Colinton Hall, Colinton, AB.
