Louise Hardie
1930-2018
Mrs. Louise Elizabeth Hardie of Athabasca, beloved wife of the late Mr. Bill Hardie, passed away at the Royal Alexandria Hospital on Tuesday, December 26, 2018 at the age of 88 years.
Louise was born in Calgary, AB on May 6, 1930 to James & Mary Porteous. She came to Athabasca, AB with her parents in the summer of 1930. Louise grew up on the farm they developed 5 miles north of the river. She attended school at the Fairhaven School (she had many stories about riding her horse to Fairhaven School) and later went to high school in Athabasca (she had to cross the river in a cage above the river).
Louise married and moved north to work and raise her family where they lived in Watson Lake -YT., Whitehorse – YT., and Fort Nelson – BC. She worked for CN as a telephone operator supervisor in Fort Nelson until she retired.
When she retired, Louise moved back to the farm where she grew up. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling, gardening, painting and spending time with family & friends.
Louise is survived by her two daughters; Dawn (Len) Boyer and Patricia (Ian) McKinnon, three sons; Dan O’Neil, Kelly (Cyndy) O’Neil, and Scott (Cathy) Hardie, grandchildren; Larry (Diana) Moorman, Dion (Sandy) Corriveau, Lori House, Matthew O’Neil, Dallas (Karen) Moorman, Patrick O’Neil, Tara (Vince) Radzikowski, Ryan O’Neil, Jasmin Hardie and Jade Hardie, brother-in-law Dave (Donna) Hardie, ten great-grandchildren; Kyle Moorman, Tyler Moorman, Brandon House, Alexa House, Brodie House, Kyler Corriveau, Callie Corriveau, Devin Moorman, Logan Moorman, Calysta Radzikowski, 4 great-great-grandchildren; Rhyley, Adrian, Christopher and Jasmyn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her loving husband Bill Hardie, Louise was predeceased by her father James Porteous, mother Mary Curveon, step-father Fred Curveon, as well as her daughter Terri Lea O’Neil.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 9, 2018 at the Athabasca Senior Centre with Pastor Al Plat officiating.
