Milton "Buddy" Phipps Obituary

Milton Bud Phipps, affectionately known as Buddy, was born in Amber Valley, Alberta, on March 11,1933. He passed away peacefully at home on March 29, 2026.

Buddy is lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Linda; his sisters Mary Lee and Creola; and his children Corrine (Dan), Pearl (Dan), Shiela, Judy, Aretha, Jessica, Serita (Kwasi), and Keetah. He will also be fondly remembered by his numerous grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, and great‑great‑grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Beulah Phipps; brother McKinley Phipps; sisters Cleota Crawford and Clara Baksza, son Edward; grandchildren Miranda, Brentley, and Michael.

Buddy spent his early years in the Athabasca region and attended Rogers Chapter School. As a young adult, he moved to Calgary, Alberta, to pursue employment opportunities. In 1980, he returned to Amber Valley with Linda, and their daughters Aretha and Serita.

A man of many skills and talents, Buddy was known for his willingness to help others and his strong belief in taking care of what you have. Whether repairing a vehicle, building a barn, fixing a roof, or helping fight a grass fire, Buddy could always be counted on. He generously shared his time and abilities with family, friends, and neighbors and was known for his practical knowledge and steady presence.

Buddy worked diligently to support his family throughout his life. In his younger years, he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Later, as his health changed, he began working at Athabasca University, where he dedicated 15 years of service before retiring.

Friendly and approachable, Buddy greeted those he knew with a nod or a smile, often accompanied by the familiar twinkle in his eye. He enjoyed good music, shared meals with family, and long drives through the countryside with Linda on sunny mornings.

Buddy spent his final weeks resting and visiting with Linda, Serita, Aretha, Kwasi, Camisha, Reiley, Nathan, and Cereya. He passed away under the attentive and loving nursing care of his granddaughter, Camisha.

Rest easy, Daddy. We’ll see you.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date
