Pearl Madsen Obituary

After a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s, our mother Pearl Evelyn Madsen passed away on December 25th, 2021.

Pearl was born on May 3rd, 1933, to Erling and Blanche Holst on the family farm near Boyle. She was the only girl in the family and had 4 brothers Earl, Bill, Carl and Nels. She worked in camps, McNamara's Store in Boyle, and Wainwright Co-op. The longest career she had was at the Boyle Health Care Center for 35 years in the kitchen. She was a very hard worker and known for her cooking and her compassion to help others.

She married Jergen Madsen on September 17th, 1958. They lived on the Madsen Homestead in Paxson near Boyle. They enjoyed their visits with the neighbors. They spent many years there farming with cattle and grain farming. They built a new house in Boyle and moved to town in 1977. She enjoyed her gardening, going out to social functions. She loved spending time with friends and neighbors and having people over for her birthday parties. When she retired from the Hospital, she took pleasure in going for coffee to the restaurants and spending time at the Drop In Centre. She had a huge heart and was so kind and caring to people. She enjoyed many family gatherings with extended family. She enjoyed having all her nieces and nephews over also and the many visits they had. She was so excited when her grandkids came along! She enjoyed every moment she spent with them! She was so proud of her family and their accomplishments.

She is survived by her children: Marion, Bruce (Mona), Rick (Debbie), and Susan (Chris); 4 grandchildren: Nick (Faith), Brent, Tamara (Bob) and Steven; 3 great grandchildren: Skye, Chase and Hannah; brother Carl (Joyce); Uncle Allan; sister-in-law Kathy; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Jergen and their son Dennis; brothers Nels, Bill and Earl; brother and sister in laws Sylvia (Slim), Hans and Sylvia, Gene and Llewellyn, Carl and Eleanor; as well as nephews: Kenny and Doug.

After her Alzheimer’s progressed, she ended up in August 2018 at the Boyle Healthcare Center and then the Wildrose Villa Assisted Living until her passing. We would like to thank the Wildrose Villa Staff for all the special care they gave mom. Thank you to the Doctors Doman, Fourie, Hannigan and Honiball for the care over the years. She will be deeply missed by our family. She was an amazing person and is irreplaceable. We are thankful to have had her in our lives.

Anyone who wishes to make a memorial donation in Pearl’s name can do so to the: Boyle Healthcare Center or the Alzheimer’s Society.
