Robin Lakey

It is with profound sadness that we officially announce the sudden passing of Robin John Lakey, who peacefully left this world on June 21st, 2024 at the age of 67. Rob was a cherished husband, son, father, and grandfather, who was known for his unyielding love of the great outdoors and a life lived with passion and joy.

Rob grew up in Mose Ambrose, Newfoundland in the loving care of his mother Naomi and grandmother, Lottie. Rob worked with the Canadian Coast Guard in Newfoundland and recently as truck driver in Fort McMurray, Alberta yet regardless of his work endeavours, nothing compared to his one true passion, camping.

Camping life was Rob's life. The simple pleasures of being at his trailer by the lake with his wife Darlene, surrounded by family, friends, (and friends that became family) was not just priceless to Rob, but it symbolized the place where he found solace and joy.

From serene lakeside sunrises to the winds whispering through the forest, Rob left this world at the very place he loved the most -A fitting end to a life filled with experiences and wonder.

A devoted husband, son, father, and grandfather, Rob made an impact on all who knew him.

Rob is survived by his beloved wife Darlene, cherished daughter Robyn (son-in-law Scott), adoring granddaughters Charlotte and Norah, and Philip, a cousin and lifelong brother figure. His immediate family, along with a wide range of extended family and friends will cherish the memories made throughout his life and the contribution Rob made in this world.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, the spirit of Rob will forever be felt in the rustling leaves, the crackling fires, and those starry nights by the lake which he loved so much.

A celebration of Rob's life will be held on August 1st at St. Thomas Anglican Church in English Harbour West at 2:00.

Interment to follow in his hometown of Mose Ambrose where he will be laid to rest by his beloved mother, Naomi Lakey.

Rob's legacy is one of boundless adventure, love of nature, and a heart that found its true home lakeside and in the midst of the outdoors. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
