Also mourning her loss are her grandchildren Michelle (Andy) Irvine, Carmen (Darcy) Bucholtz, Colette Boehlke, Denise Kryvenchuk, Dean (Paula) Patry, Brian (Carrie) Patry, Dayna (Fahri) Duman, Jason (Teresa) Patry, Jennifer (Liam) McKinney, Joanna Patry, Dan (Tamara) Patry, Craig (Nicole) Byrtus, Jenelle Byrtus, Sheldon Patry, Kristen Patry, Jenna-Rae Patry, Nicole (Dustin) Widdowson, and Erin Patry; and her twenty-seven cherished great grandchildren. Rose Alice is also survived by some special women;  her sister-in-law Rosie (Lucien) Guay, Charles surviving sisters Simonne Flynn, Joanne Jordan and Rita Kryway, and Charles three surviving sisters-in-law Rocky (Porky) Patry, Dorothy (Marcel) Patry, and Marcelle (Philippe) Patry.

Rose Alice was predeceased by her husband Charles of nearly 53 years, and their sons Paul and Edward. With the passing of Rose Alice, the family of Joseph and Rose Aimee Guay are together in heaven; Lucien, Oscar, Philip, Rose Alice & Marguerite.

Rose Alice was born and raised in Athabasca, then married Charles Patry on June 18, 1947. Their life together was busy with raising their family that expanded to 7 children. There was always work to do with chickens, cattle, pigs, haying, seeding crops, or harvest.

Rose Alice always placed the needs of others before her. As the children grew up and left home, Rose Alice and Charles had time to travel in their motorhome. Their journeys took them to Alaska, B.C., Yuma, Jackpot, the Grand Canyon, and Lake Havasu, just to name a few. They were sometimes met by family that made these trips extra special. They often met up with Porky & Rocky, Oscar & Verna, and many others. One of their last trips was to the east coast.

Rose Alice’s time at home was filled with many activities and she always found projects to spruce up the buildings on the farm. She loved her garden, flowers, deck and gazebo. She enjoyed helping Charles with his many antique tractor projects. They were both very proud to recreate the harvest of days gone by, on equipment they had restored. On two occasions, family and friends gathered to share their joy. Then, Rose Alice lost her son Paul at 39 years old. There was forever a void in her heart. Again, heartache hit with the passing of Charles, her beloved husband of almost 53 years. Time somewhat eased the pain of those two losses.

Rose Alice remained busy on the farm, she spent many years comforted by friends and family and knew in her heart that her family was always there for her. Rose Alice met and began a relationship with Gerard Caouette, whom she married on July 12, 2005.

Rose Alice and “Gerry” were kept busy with cards, crib, church, music festivals, family, and friends. Rose Alice became tired and expressed a desire to relocate to the Athabasca Lodge, where they were comfortable and well cared for. As her health care needs changed, another “home” had to be decided on. Rose Alice’s wish to her family was to keep her and Gerry together. With input from both families, it was agreed their new home would be in Rocky Mountain House. Park Avenue was the only facility that could provide the level of care both required and allowed them to share a room. Rose Alice was happy in her new surroundings, enjoyed the company of others and so enjoyed the visits from family whenever life, time and weather would allow.

Rose Alice’s health struggles really became evident in the summer of 2019 and continued until her passing on January 7, 2020. She will forever be missed.

A Funeral Service for Rose Alice will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at the St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church.
