Sharon "Dianne" Blakley

The family of Dianne Blakley announces her passing on March 31, 2026, at the age of 82, at the Athabasca Healthcare Centre.

Dianne is survived by her husband, Dennis; her daughter, Jo (Dale) of Athabasca; her daughter-in-law Trina, her grandsons, Travis (Amber), and Dylan; her brother, Randy (Debbie); her sister, Lori (Don); as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Teri; her parents, Georgina and Benny Schielke; her son Nelson; and her sister, Jeanette Pidhirney.

Dianne will be remembered for her warm laughter, kind heart, love of animals, and enjoyment of bingo and card games. She had a gift for conversation and could connect easily with everyone she met. She worked for many years in the kitchen at Athabasca Extendicare and later at the Vilna Lodge after moving to Stry in 2002. Dianne took great pride in her work and cherished the time spent with residents, sharing stories and laughter.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Athabasca Healthcare Centre as well as the Palliative Care Team for their exceptional care, kindness, and support during Dianne’s final days.

In accordance with Dianne’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
