Vyrle Elaine Westra
“Oh, I am so happy.”
Vyrle was the first-born of five children to Eric and Helen McLachlan on November 4, 1940. Both her and Robert in their teens prayed for Christian partners, and God answered their prayers August 26, 1961. God blessed them with five girls, Elaine, Judy, Gayle (died 1966), Nova and Misty, which in turn blessed them with 11 wonderful grandchildren and 6 wonderful great grandchildren. God amply gave Vyrle and Robert the skills and experience to fulfill their purposes in life to serve God by teaching and guiding others. God promised them at their wedding day to direct their pathway (proverbs 16:9) as well as giving them the hymn they often sang and believed as their testimony, “He leadeth me”, by Joseph Henry Gilmore. God on several occasions sent angels to Vyrle which she visibly saw, and on one occasion talked with who encouraged and helped her when she was physically and mentally spent. Vyrle believed and taught that she would one day leave her body that God temporarily gave her and be with Him forever. This has now been fulfilled with Vyrle’s recent death, May 20, 2024
The funeral will be held, Monday May 27th at 2:00pm at the Athabasca Reformed Church. 5210 47th Avenue, Athabasca, AB
