December 5, 1929 - June 10, 2020

Known to all as Doug was born in Maidstone, SK. He met and married Jennie Turner in Calgary, AB  in 1948. They were blessed with 3 children and celebrated 63 years of marriage (Jennie died in 2011). 

They bought their farm in Amber Valley in 1952, dad was happy and proud to live there until he was 90 years old. 

He started his boxing career in 1947 which led him to become ‘The Light Heavyweight Champion’ of Canada. A title he held for several years, along with the ‘Heavyweight’ title. 

He was very active in the Amber Valley community and instrumental in the building and maintenance of both halls for many decades. He was President for many years in both. He was famous for his corn fritters. 

He is survived by his 3 children Deborah Kristensen, Rhonda (Ron) Williams, Wade (Karyn) Harper, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. 

A small family memorial service was held to honor Doug on June 13, 2020.
