Our Story

Athabasca Community Chapel is rooted in the Athabasca community. For many years, the chapel was owned and operated by Dale Kapitaniuk, who was born and raised in Athabasca and built the firm on the idea that a funeral home should be run by people who know the families walking through the door.

In 2015, Dale sold the chapel to The Caring Group Corp. Pamela Durdle manages the chapel today, and Dale is still here as Assistant Manager and Funeral Director. The ownership has changed, but the mission remains identical: professional, caring service for Athabasca and surrounding communities.

In the fall of 2016, we completed our on-site crematorium, which means your loved one never leaves our care. We don't just work in this town; we live here, we serve here, and we are honoured to be the stewards of your family's most sacred stories.
