Arthur Kowalchuck
February 23, 1926 – November 13, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Kowalchuk on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the age of 91.
Arthur is predeceased by his wife Mary (Semeniuk); his parents Barbara and Matiy; sisters Donia, Martha and Annie; brothers Dmytro and Nykola (in infancy) Michael, Peter M, Nick and William M; brother-in-law’s Steve Fodchuk and Peter Marchuk; sister-in-law’s Mary and Joy Kowalchuk.
He is survived by his son Kenneth and wife Carolyn from Victoria, grandson Micah (Melanie), granddaughter Caitlin (Alastair) Myles from
New Westminster who have the Great Grandson Oliver Logan. Also survived by his sister Olia Marchuk from Athabasca and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arthur grew up on the family farm in the Greyville – Athabasca area. He attended the University of Alberta and got his Mining Engineering degree. After his marriage to Mary in 1949 they resided in Calgary where he worked for 36 years for British America/Gulf Canada Resources. He retired in 1986, and he and his wife travelled the world visiting many places including Europe, Asia, Australia as well as enjoying the cottage life at Mons Lake by Smoky Lake.
Upon Mary’s death, Arthur spent much time on the Athabasca farm and eventually moved there. He would do a winter holiday with his son in Victoria every year.
The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the St. Peter & St. Paul Ukranian Orthodox Church in Athabasca with the Very Reverend Archpriest Michael Domaradz officiating.
