It is with great sadness the family of Elizabeth Sale announces her passing at the age of 88 years.

Betty Sale’ was born Elizabeth Dorothy Knittle January 8, 1934 in Lancer Saskatchewan.  With little or no rain in 1935, ’36 tough times forced Betty’s parents to move to Alberta. Betty grew up the oldest of 11 children, and knew well life on a farm in Clyde. Her mother helped her father with the farming and she became a second mother to the younger ones until she met and married the love of her life. Betty Knittle married Louis Sale’ January 7, 1953 in St Gabriel’s.

Betty and Louis lived and raised their five children on a farm six miles east and north of Athabasca. Betty’s life revolved around her husband, her children and the Catholic Church. Betty and Louis purchased a cabin at Baptist Lake for family recreation, and shared wonderful vacations.

Betty spent her time after commitments to Louis and her children with sewing, gardening and volunteering. She was an active member of the CWL for 60 years, helped with missions in Athabasca and in Arizona, and worked at the Riddles store across the street from the house she and Louis built in town. She was a volunteer on the Hospital Auxiliary in her later years, until her own health dictated that she should stop.

Betty’s family would like to recognize Betty as one who sacrificed for others, who shared generously, and was a faithful believer in Almighty God.
