Carl Legge of Athabasca, AB (formerly of Wandering River, AB), passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Dec 29, 2023, at the Athabasca Health Care Centre.
Carl was born in Newfoundland in 1940. He started his work journey on the steam trains in NL in 1958. He later started his own trucking company in NL. He moved his family to Ft. McMurray in 1978 and started working for Suncor. Carl retired in 1988 and pursued farming & water hauling.
He will truly be missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Dianne, daughters Judy (Llew), Jean (Darrin), Tracey (Carter), sons Rick (Ruth) and Jamie, 6 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson Paul, parents & siblings.
Carl didn’t know a stranger, just a friend he hadn’t met yet. He always had room at his table for anyone that wanted a bite to eat or a drink of rum.
A celebration of life will be held at Athabasca Community Chapel on Saturday, March 30 at 2:00pm.
