On January 20, 2018, Estelle passed away peacefully at the age of 86 with family by her side.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Kenny, Darlene Wiwchar, Dennis (Leasa), Janice (Marvin) Paranych, and David (Karen). She also leaves to mourn her passing, her brothers Joe (Vivian) Mercier and Albert (Denise) Mercier, one sister, Annette (Mike) Baron, five sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews.
Estelle was predeceased by her husband George, her parents Wallace and Lida Mercier, one sister, Cecile Siegle, two sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, and one son-in-law.
Estelle was a kind and gentle wife, mother and grandmother – she loved her grandchildren dearly. She was very dedicated to the Church and a long standing member of the CWL. Estelle moved to Athabasca Extendicare, shortly following George’s bereavement in 2008, where she resided until her passing.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 A.M on Friday, January 26, 2018 at St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church, with Father Paul Vithayathil officiating. Interment followed at the Athabasca Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. We would like to thank all of the members of staff at Athabasca Extendicare for their exceptional care. The family would also like to thank Athabasca Community Chapel for their direction and support and Dr. Leon Burger for his continuing care over the years. Also, many thanks to Paulette Golonka (organist) for her beautiful music, Maxine Rypien for her wonderful singing, the CWL for their Honor Guard and prayers – followed by a much appreciated lunch.
