It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Glenda May Jones. Her battle with a brain tumor was lost at the Athabasca Healthcare Center, with her husband Roy at her side, on March 5th,2024.
Glenda was born in Calgary, Alberta on June 10th, 1951. She was raised by her parents Alcides and Janet Shank on their farm outside of Athabasca.
Glenda was pre-deceased by her daughter Pamela Shewfelt (ne: Jones), her first husband Jens Pederson, her parents Alcides and Janet Shank, brothers Maurice and Gerald, her father-in-law Aaron Jones and mother-in-law Laurine Jones.
Glenda is survived by her loving husband Roy, daughter Lisa Bodnarchuk (Ryan), granddaughters Hanna, Avery, and Bailey. Son-in-law Jay Shewfelt, grand daughters Emma, Jada, Jenna and Ava, and her sister Mary Schmid and several nieces and nephews.
Glenda also leaves to mourn her passing many friends and neighbors and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Athabasca Hospital Auxiliary Fund.
Funeral arrangements are in care of Athabasca Community Chapel. The service is to be held Friday March 15th at 1:00pm at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex.
