John Bosik
1943-2018
Mr. John Bosik of Athabasca passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Athabasca Palliative Care Unit.
John grew up in the Athabasca area where he farmed and did construction work. He was an avid sports fan-: namely, fishing, hunting, baseball, football, and playing pool. John spent many years playing baseball with the Grosmont and Athabasca teams.
His love of family and friends is missed by those who knew him, whether they needed a helping hand or a visit over coffee, usually at the Burger Bar.
John is survived by his sister Nancy Beaton from Edmonton, his brother Tony (Elaine) Bosik from Ottawa, and his sister Christine Saluk (Bob) from Athabasca, as well as numerous nieces and nephews: Todd (Marie-Claude) Bosik and family; Tanya (Ralph) Borle, and family; Eldan (Lisa) Bosik and family; Pam (Beaton) and John Jenkins and family; John (Diane) Beaton and family; Mark Saluk, Chad Saluk, Julie Saluk, Brian Saluk (Chelsea)and family; Guy (Carol) Talbot, Jeff and Jillian Talbot. Also, his sister-in-law Severna Bosik, his Uncle Nick (Jean) Kucher and families; Aunts Ann Bakowy and family, Alice Vollet and family; and cousins Michael (Imelda) Borodawka and families; and Michele Borodawka; Aunt Caroline Borodawka and cousins Dwayne, Chris and Nathan Borodawka.
John was predeceased by his father Bill Bosik in 1986, his mother Ann Bosik, in 2010, his brother Dan Bosik in 1988 and his sister Marcey Talbot in 1998.
A Celebration of Life for John Bosik was held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at the Athabasca Missionary Church with Pastor Marty Hays officiating. Interment has taken place at the Athabasca Community Cemetery.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family has kindly asked for donations to Athabasca Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta.
