It is with great sadness that the family of Julia Pretula announce her passing on November 21, 2018, at the age of 83 years. Originally from the Grassland area, Julia spent the last 3 years as a resident at the Athabasca Extendicare.
Julia is survived by her four children: Bryan (Connie), Audrey (Pat Scott), Darrell (Sue), Sheri (Jeff Summers), daughter-in-law Brenda, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren, brother Mike Sworin, sister Olga Semashkewich, and sister-in-law Olga Sworin. Also, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Julia was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Julia Sworin, husband John Pretula, son Lorne Pretula, brother Bill Sworin, brother-in-law Stanley Semashkewich, and sister-in-law Lena Sworin.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Athabasca Extendicare for all their wonderful compassionate care of Julia.
The family also wishes to thank the staff at the Westlock Health Care Centre for their special impeccable comfort care of Julia in her last few days.
Prayer services will be held Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 7pm at the Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in Grassland, Alberta. Funeral service will be held Monday, November 25, 2018 at 11am at the Grassland Community Centre, Grassland, Alberta.
