Lily Doreen Rosich
1943-2017
Lily Doreen Rosich of Boyle, Alberta passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. She was 83 years old.
Doreen was born in Provost, Alberta on April 14, 1934 to Ole and Lizzie Hanson, pioneering farmers in the Cadogan area. Family was very important to Doreen throughout her lifetime, and she cherished the close connections formed in those early days with both immediate and extended family throughout the Provost area. She graduated from Provost high school, and went on to study visual art at the Provincial Institute of Technology and Art in Calgary, and subsequently worked at several healthcare facilities, with children's rehabilitation medicine holding a special place in her heart. In 1974 she married George Rosich of Boyle, Alberta. Doreen and George had a long and happy life together in Boyle, farming, raising their family, and eventually retiring there in the regular company of three granddaughters and numerous other family members, close friends and neighbours.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ole and Lizzie Hanson (Botting), and husband George. She is survived by sisters Verna Davis, Olive Peigl, and twin sister Doris Hanson, son Joseph (Sara) Rosich, nephews John (Pam) Hanson, Ronald Peigl, Peter (Dung) Bicanic, and John Rosich, nieces Christine (Shane) Rollans, Terri Peigl, and Theresa Bicanic, grandchildren Sofia, Mary and Lily Rosich, and great nieces and nephews Anikka and Kalina Hanson and Charlotte and Keith Rollans.
Service will be held in Edmonton, Alberta at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 11245 51 Ave NW, on Saturday November 18, 2017 at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation (Doreen Rosich Pediatric Rehabilitation Project Fund).
