Mr. Orest John Yakimets (OJ) of Boyle, Alberta passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the age of 68 years.
OJ is survived by his brother Walter (Kay), sister-in-law Shirley Yakimets, sister Elaine MacPhail (Chris) and nieces and nephews; Walter J (Cindy), Stephen (Marilyn), Dawn-Marie Lotz (Mark), Neil (Brenda), Barbara Yackimets, Laurie Vos (Brian), Andrew MacPhail (Sarah and Heather MacPhail (Darrell Renne)
He was predeceased by his parents Bessie and John Yakimets and brother Michael.
Orest was born in Redwater, Alberta. He farmed the original family homestead of 1906 until 2006 when he moved to Boyle, Alberta.
A prayer service will be held at Athabasca Community Chapel on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 10:00am at the Sts. Borys and Hlib Ukranian Catholic Church, Redwater AB.
