It is with great sadness that the family of Rosie Guay announces her passing on August 28, 2026 at the age of 95 years.
Rosie is lovingly remembered by her five children, Barbara (Gerry) Darichuk, Brenda (Gordon) Bortnick, Keith Guay, David (Rhonda) Guay, and Kerri-lee (Darren) Kostiw. She will also be greatly missed by her fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, friends and community members.
Rosie was pre-deceased by her husband Lucien Guay, companion Harland Johnston, daughter-in-law Wendy Guay, and grandson Marc Darichuk.
Athabasca was not only Rosie’s home, but a source of great community pride. Besides building a successful family farm with her husband, she went on to make enormous contributions through the Athabasca Pottery Club and Athabasca Lions Club, and CWL. Her work ethic, tenacity, and drive to make a difference will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be held for Rosie at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 24 at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church in Athabasca. Internment of ashes to follow at the Athabasca Cemetery, and lunch reception at the Athabasca Senior’s Centre.

Memorial donations in the name of Rosie Guay may be made to the Athabasca Lions Club.
