Walter Sawchuk
November 28, 1931 – December 29, 2019
Walter Sawchuk of Athabasca, AB beloved husband of the late Marlene Sawchuk, passed away peacefully at the Athabasca Healthcare Centre on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at the age of 88 years.
Walter is survived by his son Michael Sawchuk, daughter Tamara (Dale) Klein, grandchildren; Brittany & Chanel Klein, Mackenzie, Georgia, Katie, and Jillian Sawchuk, great-grandchild Anastynn Klein, brother Gordon (Barb) Sawchuk, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Walter was predeceased by his parents Mike and Nancy Sawchuk, Bill Sawchuk, Anne Egerdie, and Mike Sawchuk.
To Dad
Michael and I feel so blessed to have had you as our father and Thankful for the wonderful life you have given us. Thank you, for teaching us the importance of hard work, and that your handshake and your word was as good as any contract. Thank you, for teaching us the power of humility. You were a man of few words, but your look and actions spoke volumes. Thank you, for falling madly in love with a beautiful redhead 50 years ago and for providing us with so much security and love. Thank you for raising us in the beautiful town of Athabasca.
We have chosen to celebrate Walter, a magnificent man, loyal loving husband, and devoted father on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Michael’s home on the farm in Athabasca.
That was his favorite place. June was his favorite month. Cheers to Walter and men like him!
