Kevin Mallet Obituary

It is with profound and immense sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved, larger than life, Kevin (Hammer) Mallet. On February 14, 2023, Kevin passed away tragically and has left an enormous void in the lives of many. This untimely event has sent shock waves from coast to coast in Kevin's industry, among his brotherhood (Boilermakers Local 146), among his friends new and old, and his tightly knit family who loved him dearly.

A loving Daddy and husband, Kevin leaves to mourn the light of his life, his daughter Emie, his wife Christie and father-in-law Donald. He will also be missed by his treasured mother Berthe (Jean-Claude); father Raymond (Nora); his sister Debbie; nephews: Gabriel-Alexander, Charles and Camille; his grandparents Gabrielle and Freddy Mazerolle, and Agnes Mallet; as well as his much-loved and cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kevin was predeceased by his grandfather Rod Mallet.

Kevin was born February 10, 1982 and grew up on the shores of the Acadian Peninsula in the town of Shippagan, New Brunswick, set along the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Extremely talented in athletics, Kevin excelled in hockey. His dedication to his sport and team laid the groundwork for his exceptional work ethic and ability to support those around him. Kevin did not inherit the sea legs of his maternal family, the Mazerolles, and therefore chose to pursue a career on land, in Alberta.

Kevin built a successful career in Alberta and eventually settled in Athabasca after having started a family with Christie on the east coast. He was happiest at home, with his family close by his side and his list of endless projects and new goals. Kevin loved every second of being with his daughter, gaming together, making her laugh, and instilling in her an unconditional love that will no doubt navigate her through life. His love for the outdoors, adventures and everything that encompasses will bring comfort to those left mourning him.

Kevin had many gifts and he graced those around him with his unparalleled zest for life; through his unrelenting humour that created countless memories, left smiles on faces, and often made you laugh until your face hurt or until you cried. He had the ability to embrace those around him in love and lift them up, refusing to give up on anyone. Kevin's greatest gift was his brilliance and his ability to shine a brightness on something larger than himself, a light far beyond that reflected his strong values and allowed him to lead with his heart.

Kevin will be missed more than words can describe, but his spirit will live on through the endless stories, the hilarious videos, and the love he shared.

A trust fund account has been set up for Kevin's daughter Emie Mallet at CIBC and a GoFundMe has been set up to help support Emie.

A private family memorial service will be held in Athabasca, Alberta.

A memorial service will be held in Shippagan, New Brunswick at a later date.
